D.A.R.Y.L.

(PG)

Escaping from a maximum security research facility, D.A.R.Y.L. (Data Analyzing Robot Youth Lifeform) is rescued and adopted by the Richardsons. All is happy until D.A.R.Y.L.'s (Barret Oliver) actual "parents," two scientists, come to claim him. The Richardson's soon realize that their adopted son is a lot more than mere flesh and blood...

Mary Beth Hurt, Michael McKean, Kathryn Walker, Colleen Camp, Josef Sommer, Ron Frazier, Steve Ryan.

This is really a good movie, its a bit dated now but still a good movie. It still has the edge-of-seat moments. This is one of the better retro movies out there, if you haven't yet seen it, watch it!!!

The Astronaut Farmer

(12)

All systems are "Go" for Charles Farmer. He's faced bank foreclosure, neighborhood naysayers and a government alarmed by his huge purchase of high-grade fuel, but now he's ready to blast into space inside the homemade rocket he built in his barn. Just be home in time for dinner, Charlie.

Billy Bob Thornton portrays Charlie in this charmer about chasing dreams...and about what it means to be a family. 10,000 pounds of rocket fuel alone can't lift Charlie into the heavens. He needs a launch/recovery crew, and he has one of the best: his wife (Virginia Madsen) and children, dreamers all. They have liftoff. Our spirits have uplift. Gravity cannot hold down our dreams. The Astronaut Farmer is that kind of movie.

Billy Bob Thornton, Max Thieriot, Jasper Polish, Logan Polish, Bruce Dern, Mark Polish, Jon Gries, Tim Blake Nelson, Sal Lopez, J.K. Simmons, Kiersten Warren.

This is really an excellent movie. The plot is about a man played by Billy Bob Thornton and he builds a homemade rocket that he plans to launch into space. In the small acting cast, they were all excellent. All in all a really great movie!!!

Addams Family Reunion

(PG)

Gomez (Tim Curry) and Morticia (Daryl Hannah) are horrified to discover that Grandpa (Kevin McCarthy) and Grandma (Estelle Harris) Addams have a rare disease that is slowly turning them "normal". The only chance they have of curing them is to organise a family reunion, hoping that someone knows a home remedy. Unfortunately, due to a printing error, the family arrives at the reunion of an ordinary family named Adams (with one D). While Gomez and Morticia, oblivious to the mistake, search for a cure amongst a family divided by the wish to inherit; Pugsley (Jerry Messing) and Wednesday (Nicole Fugere) are busy making new friends...explode; Uncle Fester (Patrick Thomas) and Thing search for a vicious Chihuahua that lives on human hair; and Lurch (Carel Struycken) falls in love. Meanwhile, a couple going to the reunion are given the wrong address and end up at the Addams mansion where Granny (Alice Ghostly) and Cousin Itt (Phil Fondacaro) are staying. No-one's life will ever be the same...

Heidi Lenhart, Diana Delano, Logan Robbins, Lindsay Haun, Rodger Halston, Hilary Shepard.

They were not as good as the original cast of the Addams Family. The movie is ok but wouldn't go over board about it. It wasn't as good as the original movies, why did they have to change the cast!!!

Addams Family Values

(PG)

Pugsley (Jimmy Workmen) and Wednesday (Christina Ricci) Addams aren't very happy with the new addition to the family: their new baby brother, Pubert (Kaitlyn & Kristen Hooper). Morticia (Anjelica Huston) is restless, and Gomez (Raul Julia) only wants her to be happy, so he tries to fix everyone's problems by hiring a nanny. The Addams' finally find the perfect nanny in Debbie (Joan Cusack): a seemingly innocent woman with an impeccable wardrobe and a way with her hands. She charms the family, especially Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd), who is head-over-heels for her. However, Wednesday and Pugsley see through her sensual facade: Debbie is only after Fester for his money. Before they can rat on her, she has the kids sent off to summer camp, as she and Fester get married. While she tries (several times) to kill Fester and make it look like an accident, Pugsley and Wednesday must battle ever-cheery camp directors and spoiled rich kids to get back to their family and warn them of Debbie's plans.

Carol Kane, David Krumholtz, Peter MacNicol, Christine Baranski.

The Addams Family are back with the same old good comedy. Brace yourself for a sadistic Wednesday with her one-linerss. Watch out for the happy-clappy camp advisers and share in Pugsley and Wednesday's torture! A fantastically movie!

The Addams Family

(PG)

The Addams step out of Charles Addams' cartoons. (Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christina Ricci, Judith Malina, Dana Ivey, Jimmy Workman, Tony Azito, Douglas Brian Martin, John Franklin) They live with all of the trappings of the macabre (including a detached hand for a servant) and are quite wealthy. Added to this mix is a crooked accountant and his loan shark and a plot to slip in the shark's son into the family as their long lost Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd). Can the false Fester find his way into the vault before he is discovered?

Elizabeth Wilson, Dan Hedaya, Carel Struycken, Paul Benedict, Christopher Hart.

This is a really good movie. It's a timeless classic, with great funny moments, great acting and a culture of its own. All in all a really great movie!!!

Haunted

(15)

In 1905, in Sussex, England, the young boy David (Aiden Quinn) loses his twin sister while playing with her nearby a lake. The girl falls and drowns in the lake, and David feels guilty for her death. The grieving family returns to USA, and twenty-three years later, David Ash comes back to England, to be the professor of psychology in the University of Camberley. The skeptical David is specialized in psychic phenomena and exposition of false mediums and frauds, and wrote a successful book about this subject. After a countless number of calls from an elder lady called Miss Webb (Anna Massey) claiming to be haunted by ghosts, David is informed that the lady lives in Edbrook, and he decides to accept her invitation to visit her. When he arrives in Edbrook's train station, the beautiful young woman Christina Mariell (Kate Beckinsale) is waiting for him. She drives him to her remote mansion, where she lives with her two brothers and their former nanny, Miss Webb. After being introduced to the family, David finds the behavior of Miss Webb very weird and disturbed, but decides to investigate the existence of any psychic phenomena in the place. Meanwhile, Christina and him fall in love for each other. Their romance and his investigation come to surprising revelations.

Anthony Andrews, John Gielgud, Alex Lowe, Geraldine Somerville, Victoria Shalet, Linda Bassett, Liz Smith, Peter England, Alice Douglas, Hilary Mason, Edmund Moriarty, Emily Hamilton.

I read this book a couple of years ago, then I just had to see the movie. The movie was good, but the book was better. I would recommend you read the book before seeing the movie. I really like how this story begins and the twist in it. It's such an amazing story and the acting is great!!!

The Jonah by James Herbert

The shadow of his past was always with him, but he never knew what it was or when it would strike next. Sent to a small coastal town to investigate drug smuggling, Kelso soon found his life - and his sanity - in great danger.

Being a big James Herbert fan, I would recommend you waste your time reading this book, as you'll be very disappointed. As I was!!!

The Rats by James Herbert

For millions of years man and rats had been natural enemies. But now for the first time-- suddenly, shockingly, horribly-- the balance of power had shifted and the rats began to prey on the human population.

Even though this book is 30 years old, it is still the most disturbing and frightening book I have ever read, an absolute must read classic, go on scare yourself. It will keep your hooked from start to finish.

Haunted by James Herbert

Three nights of terror at the house called Edbrook - three nights in which David Ash, there to investigate a haunting, will be victim of horrifying and maleficent games. These are the three nights in which he will face the blood-chilling enigma of his own past - the three nights before Edbrook's dreadful secret will be revealed...And the true nightmare will begin! Remember with fear. "Disturbing atmosphere and constant unpleasant shocks." - "Daily Mail".

I remember reading this book a few years ago, it was just fantastic, this is one of my favourite James Herbert books. This was made into a movie but this is well better. I would recommend this book if you like ghostly books!!!

Lighting by Dean Koontz

This is a fantastic new package for this chilling tale by the international bestseller. Who is more foolish - the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light? Baba Lavelle is a stranger in New York. A stranger with a mission to break the Mafia stranglehold on the city's drug traffic, and take it over himself. He has no guns, no army of hoods, no friends in high places. But he has the Power - magical, ancient, and terrifyingly brutal. The power that thrives in darkness!

This book is just excellent! This book is full of really scary moments and suspense by chase. If you ever wondered what went bump in the night this book is for you.

This book is just FANTASTIC!!!

Intensity by Dean Koontz

Edgler Vess is a sociopath intent on murder. He lives for one purpose only: to satisfy all appetites as they arise, seeking ever more outrageous experience. To live with intensity. When he attacks her friend, Laura, Chyna Shepherd's instincts protect her. Not knowing Laura is already dead, Chyna follows, hoping to save her friend, when Vess carries her body to his motor home -- a dungeon and morgue on wheels. The killer, unaware of her presence, drives away. Her sole aim is to get out alive, until she learns the identity of the killer's next intended victim, and knows she must act to save that precious life.

This book was really a excellent read. It was thrilling, disturbing, exciting and well written. I have read many of Dean Koontz's books and this one is up there with his top books, there is not much difference in story lines between his books but still a good read, but this one really stood out and was incredible! A must read!

Night Chills by Dean Koontz

This is a fantastic new package for this chilling tale by the international bestseller. Glenn drove the Land Rover into a stone wall at just over 100mph. Alice stuck a meat fork through her hand and pinned it to the chopping board. Brenda took off all her clothes. She did whatever she was told. They were compelled by a fear too great to be remembered, enslaved by a power no man should ever wield.

An excellent book by Dean Koontz I would recommend this book to everyone. I want to say so much about this story but don't want to give away the story, you must read this one. All in all this is one of this best books ever!!!

Hideaway by Dean Koontz

Although accident victim Hatch Harrison dies en route to the hospital, a brilliant physician miraculously resuscitates him. Given this second chance, Hatch and his wife Lindsey approach each day with a new appreciation of the beauty of life -- until a series of mysterious and frightening events brings them face to face with the unknown. Although Hatch was given no glimpse of an After-Life during the period when his heart had stopped, he has reason to fear that he has brought a terrible Presence back with him! from the land of the dead. When people who have wronged the Harrisons begin to die violently, Hatch comes to doubt his own innocence -- and must confront the possibility that this life is just a prelude to another, darker place.

For quite a few years now I've been a fan of Dean Koontz and this book isn't as good as some of this other book, but still a good read. A good storyline, and well written.

Shattered

Sometimes a family's love can achieve the impossible... On 12th October 1995, Mavis Marsh answered her door to the news every parent dreads most. 'It's your son,' the policeman told her. 'He's been in an accident.' Only hours earlier, Matthew had been set for a dazzling future but, in one terrible night, a devastating tragedy altered everything. Days later, Mavis found herself standing at her son's bedside as doctors told her to give up all hope. According to them, the damage to Matthew's brain was too severe for him to recover, and the boy she had known and loved was gone forever. But Mavis and her husband, Keith couldn't give up on their only son. And refusing to accept the diagnosis, they started to work with Matthew themselves, desperately urging their comatose son to fight. For months they tried, to no avail. But then, almost half a year later, he suddenly started to respond...

This book is excellent, it was written by Mavis Marsh but its a very sad story on the journey she and her family have been through with her son Matthew. This story makes you appreciate what you have and what a struggle her family and her have been and are still going through.

Cry Salty Tears

"Cry Salty Tears" is the tale of a mother's survival and eventual triumph over almost unbelievable domestic hardship. Not only did Dinah O'Dowd face the harsh and unforgiving elements of her background - an upbringing in poverty-stricken 50s Dublin, teenage pregnancy and a lone journey to London, but she also fought like a tigress against the shadows cast across four decades of her life by the dark central figure of her existence, her psychotically abusive husband Jerry. Over the years, Dinah suffered repeated physical assault, prolonged mental torture and destructive ignorance, yet successfully raised a family of six and nurtured the unique personality of a world superstar, her son Boy George. Finally, she has reached equilibrium in the wake of the death of her husband, and is now ready to tell her story, striking a chord with women everywhere. Unflinchingly honest, heart-rending in the telling and packed with inconsolable tragedy and biting wit, "Cry Salty Tears" recounts the long and painful journey Dinah had to take. From the moment when she first set eyes on the charming, blue-eyed Jeremiah, to the first blow he struck when she was pregnant with their child, the suicide attempt that depression and all encompassing fear led her to and ultimately to her release from his psychotic clutches, "Cry Salty Tears" tells how, despite it all, this extraordinary woman could at last reclaim her life.

This is a great book by Dinah the mother of Boy George. And what she had to put up with, overcome and come out the other end!!!

My Name Is Angel

This moving memoir tells the story of how a young woman descended into the world of prostitution and drug abuse, yet found the strength to rebuild her life. Rhea Coombs' father is a convicted murderer and she grew up with a hippy mother who constantly moved house and lived in a succession of squats and communes before settling in Bristol. It was in Bristol that Rhea had her first introduction to drugs, pimps and prostitution. Pregnant at sixteen, she escaped to London and mixed with gangsters in seedy Soho nightclubs, eventually becoming addicted to crack and heroin and running a crack house. Rhea was forced to give up her children, but she never stopped loving them and through her strength and courage was finally able to escape for the world of drugs and prostitution, and regain custody of her children. This is her remarkable story.

This book is a such heart wrenching story of courage and love, I recommend you read this book. It give you an insight to the drug scene, that most of lucky enough not to see!!

Runaway

Skye's story is one of survival against the odds. Abandoned by her mother at the age of four and placed in a series of horrible institutions, she learnt to fend for herself from an early age. After a horrific rape when she was ten, she ran from the care home and went to live with the gypsies in the New Forest. She always yearned for freedom and was fearless and impulsive. Her curiosity took her all over the world -- from the abattoirs of France at the age of 15 to the dizzy heights of the Paris fashion world, onto the underbelly of Amsterdam where she became a diamond smuggler at the age of 17 and then to the film studios of Hollywood where she worked as a stunt woman on films like Blues Brothers. Her life took a very different turn when she moved to the island of Phuket in Thailand, adopted four children from different backgrounds, Angelia Jolie-style, and started to sponsor another three. With a group of friends she helped set up an orphanage for street children in neighbouring Cambodia who were eking out a miserable existence on one of the municipal rubbish dumps in Pnom Phen.At the age of 45 her life revolves around children, both her own four and the Cambodians she has pledged to help. The runaway street child has fianlly found a reason to stop running.

I read this book in two days it kept me hook from start to finish, this little girl owned everything by the age of 14 and by 18 she was a diamond smuggler with a gangster life style . She was brought up in a home that provided abused from the start, this book is so amazing a must read!!!!

Nobody's Child

Michael Seed should have received what every child deserves: love, care and attention, and the chance to be just what he was - an innocent young boy. Instead, from as far back as he can remember, Michael's childhood was nothing but a daily ordeal of unspeakable neglect, misery and abuse from a father whose tyranny of fear stole Michael's formative years from him and drove his wife and Michael's mother to suicide. After years of silence, he now feels ready to tell a story that, though shockingly painful, is a testament to one human's remarkable ability to triumph over the most appalling of circumstances. Living under the 'care' of his adoptive parents, life for Michael was hell from the start. Long before his school days, the only lesson he learned was to try and avoid being noticed by his alcoholic father. If he managed this, there was a chance of escaping the daily beatings and extreme verbal abuse he only assumed was part of normal childhood, and it would only be his mother that would receive whatever violence was meted out that day. More often than not, though, Daddy would find time to ensure that both Michael and his Mother felt his wrath together. Then, one awful night, Michael realized that the abuse was escalating to another level when his father began the sexual abuse that would continue for years. The abuse did not stop at home. Once he began school, Michael once again fell victim to terrible bullying and a teacher who violated him repeatedly. After his mother's death, he was sent to his grandmother who, it turned out, was prepared to show no mercy. Michael, it seemed, was destined for a life of inescapable misery. Yet, despite the horror of these years, Michael was ultimately saved by his own will to live, and the books which inspired him to move on and seek a better life. This is the remarkable story of an individual who, against all the odds, managed to preserve his own dignity and finally escape the horrors of a stolen childhood.

This book was very sad at the beginning, but has a happy ending. A family who hate one another and especially Michael. His mum does love him by what I can make out, but doesn't stop any abuse from his father. But he comes through it and continues to make a success of his life. This book is a must read, it shows how much courage he has got to get were he is today.

Jordon Hinson, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Chris Gauthier, Ed Quinn.

Seen the first season of A Town Called Eureka, but didn't see the rest. I really enjoyed watching this but don't no why I stop. Will have to catch up!!! But all in all a great series.

St Elsewhere

(12)

This hour-long dramatic series featured life at St. Eligius Hospital, headed by Drs. Donald Westphall (Ed Flanders) and Daniel Auschlander (Norman Lloyd). Every year, new residents would walk down the halls of St. Eligius; learning to deal with perfectionist Cardiovascular Surgeon Mark Craig (William Daniels) was only the beginning of the way the hospital and its interesting patients would change their lives forever.

Ed Begley Jr., Howie Mandel, David Morse, Christina Pickles, Denzel Washington, Eric Laneuville, Sagan Lewis.

This was one of the best TV shows of the 80s. Another great medical drama from America. If you like medical dramas then you'll love this one!!!

Chicago Hope

Television medical drama in soap-opera style. Surgeons Jeffrey Geiger (Mandy Patinkin) and Aaron Shutte (Adam Arkin) battle valiantly for their patients, often coming into conflict with the hospital administration, run by Dr. Phillip Watters (Hector Elizondo). Their cases are usually ethically complex, highly sensationalistic, and very melodramatic. Meanwhile, Jeffrey and Aaron, who are best friends, commiserate about the shambles their tumultuous personal lives have become....

Peter Berg, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Jayne Brook, Christine Lahti, Rocky Carroll, Mark Harmon, Thomas Gibson.

This a really good medical drama series, I haven't seen many episodes. But I have seen I thought it was good

Morons from Outer Space

(PG)

A space ship stops at an intergalactic fuel station. While the captain's refueling, one of his idiotic companions plays with the controls and accidently starts the ship and crashes into the earth. This causes a sensation: the media celebrates the extraterrestrials, the military interrogates them for eternal wisdom. However soon they recognize that the fellows are dumb as bricks - although some generals believe it's just a mask.

Joanne Pearce, Jimmy Nail, Paul Bown, James Sikking, Dinsdale Landen, Tristram Jellinek, George Innes.

This is really a stupid movie. But it makes me laugh. This movie is very silly, juvenile and actually quite bad, but still quite fun to watch, would watch it again though once was enough.

Batteries not Included

(PG)

Five ordinary people needed a miracle. Then one night Faye Riley (Jessica Tandy) left the window open.

When an unscrupulous real estate developer sends thugs into a deteriorating tenement to get rid of the last five tenants, they need nothing short of a miracle to stay where they are. In this delightful fantasy presented by Steven Spielberg, little stands between the brave holdouts and the street.

But one night, when all hope seems lost, tiny visitors from outer space mysteriously glide through their windows. As if in answer to their prayers, the incredible creatures begin to turn the tide with their magical powers.

Hume Gronyn, Frank McRae, Elizabeth Peria, Dennis Boutsikaris, Michael Carmine, Tom Aldredge, Jane Hoffman, John DiSanti, John Pankow, MacIntyre Dixon.

This is really such a great science fiction movie, I still think its really good now watch it every time its on TV. It is a beautiful story of hope, faith and belief, this movie is is suitable for all ages.

(PG)

It is the year 2130 A.D. An Earth exploratory ship, the USS Palomino, discovers a black hole with a lost ship, the USS Cygnus, just outside its event horizon. Deciding to solve the mystery of the Cygnus are: the Palomino's Captain, Dan Holland (Robert Foster); his First Officer, Lieutenant Charlie Pizer (Joseph Bottoms); journalist Harry Booth (Ernest Borgnine); scientist and ESP-sensitive Dr. Kate McCrae (Yvette Mimieux), whose father was the Cygnus's First Officer; Dr. Alex Durant (Anthony Perkins), the expedition's civilian leader; and the robot known as V.I.N.CENT (Roddy McDowall). The Palomino attempts a dangerous fly-by of the darkened ship. As they come within close range of it, the buffeting they experience (due to the black hole's gravity) suddenly ceases. They bring more instruments to bear on the derelict, but do not even realize the gravity-free zone is artificial; slipping outside it, they are almost drawn into the black hole, an abyss from which no one can escape. Matters worsen when Reinhardt (Maximilian Schell) holds the crew captive, after realizing that they can help him reach his goal. The squad must now figure out a way to flee from Reinhardt -- before it's too late
