(15)

Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) has a three year contract to work for Lunar Industries. For the contract's entire duration, he is the sole employee based at their lunar station. His primary job responsibility is to harvest and periodically rocket back to Earth supplies of helium-3, the current clean and abundant fuel used on Earth. There is no direct communication link available between the lunar station and Earth, so his only direct real-time interaction is with GERTY, the intelligent computer whose function is to attend to his day to day needs. With such little human contact and all of it indirect, he feels that three years is far too long to be so isolated; he knows he is beginning to hallucinate as the end of his three years approaches. All he wants is to return to Earth to be with his wife Tess and their infant daughter Eve, who was born just prior to his leaving for this job. With two weeks to go, he gets into an accident at one of the mechanical harvesters and is rendered unconscious. Injured, he awakens back at the station in the infirmary, he assumes assisted by GERTY. GERTY (Kevin Spacey) tells him that a rescue team named Eliza will come to the station to clean up the aftermath of the accident. After his recuperation, he takes an unauthorized trip back to the broken harvester, where he makes an unexpected discovery. Because of his find, he begins to doubt his sanity, then his true identity, then the company and GERTY's willingness to do what is best for him. Because of his resulting beliefs, his sole mission becomes how to get back to Earth on his own.

When 9 (voice of Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Fire

(12)

Beset by nightmares that leave his scar hurting more than usual, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) is all too happy to escape his disturbing dreams by attending the Quidditch World Cup with his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson). But something sinister ignites the skies at the Quidditch campsite; the Dark Mark, the sign of the evil Lord Voldemort. It's conjured by his followers, the Death Eaters, who haven't dared to appear in public since Voldemort was last seen thirteen years ago - the night he murdered Harry's parents. Robert Pattinson
as Cedric.

Harry longs to get back inside the safe walls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) can protect him. But things are going to be a little different this year. Dumbledore announces that Hogwarts will host the Triwizard Tournament, one of the most exciting and dangerous of the wizarding community's magical competitions. One champion will be selected from each of the three largest and most prestigious wizarding schools to compete in a series of life-threatening tasks in pursuit of winning the coveted Triwizard Cup...

The fourth movie offers everything that the third movie failed to provide. There's also a greater use of comedy too, nothing outrageously slapstick, but lots of little moments that cheer up what is a rather dark storyline. Torture, murder, treachery, kidnapping and Rita Skeeter are just some of the perils that Harry has to face in the course of the movie. I recommend you read the book first!!!!

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

(PG)

Something wicked this way comes...

It's Harry's third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and Harry, Ron and Hermoine, now teenagers, return for their third year at Hogwarts, where they are forced to face escaped prisoner Sirius Black who poses a great threat to Harry. Harry and his friends spend their third year learning how to handle Divination. They also visit the wizarding village of Hogsmeade and the Shrieking Shack, which is considered the most haunted building in Britain. In addition to these new experiences, Harry must overcome the threats of the soul-sucking Dementors, outsmart a dangerous werewolf and finally deal with the truth about Sirius Black and his relationship to Harry and his parents Lily & James. With his best friends, Harry masters advanced magic, crosses the barriers of time and changes the course of more than one life. This wonderful spellbinder soars with laughs, and the kind of breathless surprise only found in a Harry Potter adventure.....

Brilliant. Every bit as good as the book. Cannot wait for the next Harry Potter to come out !!

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

(PG)

Cars fly, trees fight back and a mysterious elf comes to warn Harry Potter at the start of the second year of his amazing journey into the world of wizardry. This year at Hogwarts, spiders talk, letters scold and Harry's own unsettling ability to speak to snakes turns his friends against him. From dueling clubs to rogue Bludgers, it's a year of adventure and danger when bloody writing on a wall announces: "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened". To save Hogwarts will require all of Harry, Ron and Hermione's magical abilities and courage in this spellbinding adaptation of J.K. Rowling's second book. Get ready to be amused and petrified as Harry Potter shows he's more than a wizard, he's a hero!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second installment in the Harry Potter series, follows Harry, Ron and Hermione through their second year at Hogwarts School. The DVD delivers another adventure with more magic, more laughs and more thrills. It has 19 additional/extended scenes, self-guided tours including background characters, an exclusive interview with author J.K. Rowling and screenwriter Steve Kloves and all-new interactive challenges.

This movie is better and darker than the first, and I recommend it to anyone over 7. The movie deals with an elf called Dobby warning Harry about his new year at Hogwarts, but Harry ignoring it and going there anyway. Meanwhile, he hears strange voices, deals with giant spiders and reads the diary of Tom Riddle (Voldemort). Harry is also mistaken for the Heir of Slytherin, after several attacks. The movie comes to an entertaining climax as Harry fights a Basilisk. Read the book first then watch this, you won't be disappointed!

The Delightful Film Adaptation of J.K. Rowling's Bestseller...

At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, discovering a world of magic and fantasy where he is destined to live. (Rupert Grint), (Emma Watson), (Tom Felton), (Richard Harris), (Maggie Smith), (Robbie Coltrane).

This is the first installment of the Harry Potter series and its starts it off really well. It gets you to grips with what its about and the characters in the movie. The book is even better as it goes into more detail!!!

Angels & Demons

(12)

A new Pope is to be chosen. There are 4 candidates. The Illuminati want to make them decision themselves...

As the prospective candidates are killed off one by one, the killer lets it be known that he is from the Illuminati, but what do they want? Renowned symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) is called upon to investigate, clues leading him to the Vatican and on a quest for a massively destructive weapon. Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer, Stellan Skarsgard, Nikolaj Lie Kaas.

An absolutely amazing movie, it is based on religious groups so some people may be put off by the theme but it is perfect for anyone who likes action movies as the action is non-stop. It is immensely entertaining making you want to know what will happen next. I have never seen a movie that made me feel so tense and I was literally on the edge of my seat as it is a mission to save people in a pattern of killings in Vatican City. I would recommend it to anyone!

Dillinger is eventually betrayed by an acquaintance who tells the authorities just where to find him on a given night.

Battle for Terra

(PG)

Mala (Evan Rachel Wood) is a precocious girl living on the beautiful planet Terra, a place where peace and tolerance are celebrated. Unbeknownst to Mala and her fellow Terrians, the last inhabitants of Earth have exhausted the resources of their planet and those of three others, and are now searching for a new home. This Earthforce has discovered that the use of a Terraformer will make Terra habitable for humans but poisonous for Terrians. When the Earthlings embark on a hostile invasion of Terra, Mala's father, Roven (Dennis Quaid), is kidnapped. Hoping to save her father, Mala captures and hides a crashed human pilot named Jim (Luke Wilson). While Mala nurses Jim back to health, the two forge a friendship and a plan that could save both the human race and the planet of Terra. Soon, however, they realize that peace will not be secured unless they can combat both the Terraformer and dark political forces that will stop at nothing in their drive to achieve power for power's sake. While Terra's message that peace is a question of free will and choice is a potent one, the exuberance of Mala and her young friends carries the film. Director Aristomenis Tsirbas paints a landscape of pastoral pleasure, and our admiration for Terra's idyllic vistas is only heightened when they are invaded-martykz-2.

Lakeview Terrace

(15)

In Lakeview Terrace, a young couple (Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington) has just moved into their California dream home when they become the target of their next-door neighbor, who disapproves of their interracial relationship. A stern, single father, this tightly wound LAPD officer (Samuel L. Jackson) has appointed himself the watchdog of the neighborhood. His nightly foot patrols and overly watchful eyes bring comfort to some, but he becomes increasingly harassing to the newlyweds. These persistent intrusions into their lives ultimately turn tragic when the couple decides to fight back.

This is a good cop thriller done by Jackson. A cop that turns into a Psycho neightbour is quite hard to believe for me, but anyway, it is interesting with some good acting which makes this movie worth a watch for any thriller or cop movie fan.

Lovewrecked

(PG)

Jenny Taylor (Amanda Bynes) has found her ideal man who she just knows would sweep her off her feet. The only problem? He's Jason Masters (Chris Carmack), the world's biggest rock star. Hoping for a chance to get close to her idol, Jenny takes a job in his favourite Caribbean resort with her best friend Ryan (Jonathan Bennett). When Jason is washed overboard in a storm, Jenny jumps in to save him and the pair find themselves stranded on a seemingly-deserted tropical island. Jenny discovers that they have landed mere miles away from the resort, but instead of telling Jason the truth she lets him believe they are stranded so she can make him fall in love with her. But as Jenny's plans fall apart, she begins to realise her personal paradise may have been closer to home all the time...

I really liked this movie, it gets you into the summer mood, and it is really funny. If like Amanda Bynes's movies, this wont disappoint. You won't get bored of the movie and its a real heart warmer. I definitely recommend it!

Sleepover

(PG)

The rules are set. The game is on.

After graduating from junior high, a group of four friends decide to have a sleepover to celebrate. Hannah (Mika Boreem), Farrah (Scout Taylor-Compton), and Yancy (Kalli Flyn Childress) gather at Julie's (Alexa Vega) parents' house, and eagerly discuss plans for their forthcoming first year at high school. Their excitement is soon brought to a halt, however, when a group of rival girls led by the popular Stacie (Sarah Paxton) challenges them to a scavenger hunt. The stakes are high. So high, in fact, that the winners of the hunt will take a much-coveted place in the dining hall for lunch, thereby securing their popularity at high school. Unfortunately, Julie's dad, Jay (Jeff Garlin), is under orders from her mum (Jane Lynch) not to let the kids leave the house, and so Julie asks her older brother Ren (Sam Huntington) to cover for her while she sneaks out...

Hijacking her dad's car, sneaking into clubs, evading Julie's mother, and even a first kiss....! Anything is possible at Julie's sleepover.

Watched this with my daughter, thought it was really good for a teenager movie, if you haven't yet seen it watch it!!!

17 Again

(12)

What would you do if you got a second shot at life?

Class of 1989, Mike O'Donnell (Zac Efron) is a star on the high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlet (Allison Miller) and the baby he just learned they are expecting. Young Ned (Tyler Steelman).

Almost 20 years later, Mike's (Matthew Perry) glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage to Scarlet (Leslie Mann) has fallen apart, he has been passed over fpr a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned (Thomas Lennon).

But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but his thirty something outlook is totally uncool among the class of 2009.

And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him.

I was expecting this movie to be full on cheese, but it was hilarious!
I'm not Zac Efron's biggest fan, but this just shows how good of an actor he really is without all the whiny singing.

El Dorado

(PG)

Legendary producer-director Howard Hawks teams with two equally legendary stars, John Wayne and Robert Mitchum, in this classic Western drama. Mitchum plays to perfection an alchoholic but gutsy sheriff who relentlessly battles the dark side of the wild West, ruthless cattle barons and crooked "businessmen." The Duke gives an equally adept performance as the sheriff's old friend who knows his way around a gunfight. Filled with brawling action and humor, El Dorado delivers the goods. James Caan and Ed Asner co-star.

This is an extremely enjoyable and funny movie - hilarious in parts - with some great one liners and a couple of running jokes involving Caan. All the main characters spark well off each other...Wayne, Mitchum, Hunnicut and Caan are all on excellent form with Mitchum in particular, looking as if he was made for the part. Works for me every time....great fun!

Red River

(U)

John Wayne is Tom Dunson, a cattle baron who built his ranch with hard work and a determination to kill any man who would dare try to take his land. But when plummeting livestock values endanger his beloved ranch, Tom and his adopted son set out to get a fair price for their cattle by driving them through the treacherous Chisholm Trail from Texas to Kansas. Montgomery Clift, Joanne Dru, Walter Brennan.

Battling Indians, stampedes and dissention among the ranch hands, Tom proves that he'll stop at nothing to reach his destination. He'll risk danger, hardship, betrayal and perhaps even his own sanity...

A true, unforgettable classic. Full of Indian attacks, shootouts and classic movie moments, Red River is a hard-hitting, action-packed adventure that leads to an unbearably tense final showdown.

The Alamo

(PG)

John Wayne produces, directs and stars in this larger than life chronicle of one of the most remarkable events in American history. At the Alamo - a crumbling adobe mission - 185 exceptional men joined together in a sacred pact: they would stand firm against an army of 7,000 and willingly give their lives for freedom.

Filmed entirely in Texas only a few miles from the site of the actual battle, The Alamo, is a visually stunning and historically accurate celebration of courage and honour.

Co-starring Richard Widmark, Laurence Harvey and Chill Wills, and garnering seven Oscar nominations, it is a truly memorable movie spectacle.

Use to watch all the John Wayne movies with my dad when I was younger this is one of my favourites. A really great western

Stagecoach

(U)

One of the all time classic Westerns - considered by many to be the movie that propelled John Wayne, Claire Trevor to stardom back in 1939.

The film is set against the impressive backdrop of Monument Valley in Utah and tells the story of a mixed group of travellers who are making their way across country to Arizona. They are endangered by an Indian War Party, and this along with their various characters results in difficulties for the party...

One of the great Westerns. This is such an important movie, featuring one of cinema's most popular stars, that it deserves a proper restoration. Watch the astonishing Warner special editions of Casablanca and The Adventures Of Robin Hood to see what can be done with movies from this era.

The Host

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

This is one excellent book, really good storyline, hope she writes a second!!!

In The Land Of Women

For as long as he could remember, Carter Webb (Adam Brody) had been falling in love with women. And for as long as he could remember, he'd been searching for the right one. He found everything he was looking for in Sophia (Elena Anaya) and for a little while he was happy. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. When Carter is dumped by Sophia in a North Hollywood coffee shop, he sees his entire life flash before his eyes.

Heartbroken and depressed, Carter escapes Los Angeles, heading across the country to suburban Michigan to care for his ailing grandmother. An eccentric and complicated personality, Grandma (JoBeth Williams) offers Carter a uniquely different perspective on life and especially death. Soon after his arrival, Carter stumbles into the lives of the family living directly across the street, Sarah Hardwicke (Meg Ryan), the mother of two daughters: Paige (Makenzie Vega), a precocious, effervescent eleven-year-old and her older sister Lucy (Kristen Stewart), an angst ridden teenager. While Sarah faces her own personal crisis, Lucy wrestles with the fears that define her. Through his relationships with these women, as well as his grandmother, Carter begins to discover that what felt like the end was really only just the beginning of his adventure.

Simply Superb! The whole movie seemed to go beyond your average "chick flick", it had Drama, Comedy and a real feel good factor, without being too slushy.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

(15)

From the producers of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up comes a comic look at one guy's arduous quest to grow up and get over the heartbreak of being dumped - if he can only make himself start Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). He's the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. But his world is rocked when she dumps him and Peter finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life.

To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Hawaii, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: his ex and her tragically hip new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous (Russell Brand), are sharing his hotel. But as he torments himself with the reality of Sarah's new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel (Mila Kunis), a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world. He also finds relief in several hundred embarrassing, fruity cocktails.

This is a good fun movie in the sun with a great cameo from Russell Brand. The humour is quite subtle in parts and straightforward in others but ultimately this is feelgood stuff. I loved it.

Gracie's Choice

Based on a true story!!!

This is an amazing movie, I am so surprised that it didn't make the box office, because it sure deserved an Oscar or two. Wow. The story started off with a young girl, Gracie (Kristen Bell), having to care for her dysfunctional younger siblings, whilst her mother (Anne Heche) was doing drugs. When her mother leaves, Gracie (a young girl of only 17), becomes head of the house-hold. With help from her grandmother (Diana Ladd) who gave all the money she had for the children gave it her mother. It truly is a breath-taking classic story. The courage of this young girl had me in tears at the end, a must see for all.

First Daughter

(PG)

The girl who always stood out is finally getting the chance to fit in.

Samantha Mackenzie (Katie Holmes) has fame and glamour, but she just wants what every college freshman wants: the opportunity to experience the world away from home and, most importantly, away from her parents. She just wants to be treated like anyone else. To be... normal.

But it's not going to be easy, because Sam's home address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and her dad is John Mackenzie (Michael Keaton), the President of the United States.

Now living thousands of miles away from the White House, Sam hopes that being out on her own means she'll be free of the constraints of being the First Daughter. Bring It On

(12)

The Toro cheerleader squad from Rancho Carne High School in San Diego has got spirit, spunk, sass and a killer routine that's sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row. But for newly-elected team captain Torrance, the Toros' road to total cheer glory takes a shady turn when she discovers that their perfectly choreographed routines were in fact stolen from the Clovers, a hip-hop squad from East Compton, by the Toros' former captain.

While the Toros scramble to come up with a new routine, the Clovers, led by squad captain Isis (Gabrielle Union) have their own problems coming up with enough money to cover their travel expenses to the championships. With time running out and the pressure mounting, both captains drive their squads to the point of exhaustion: Torrance, hell bent on saving the Toros' reputation, and Isis more determined than ever to see that the Clovers finally get the recognition they deserve. But only one team can bring home the title, so may the best moves win... (Hayden Panettiere) (Solange Knowles)

The dance moves in this movie are amazing! I haven't seen better choreography any where, the story is great and the music is extremely catchy!

The Lizzie McGuire Movie

(U)

Goodbye home, hello Rome! Lizzie (Hilary Duff), along with classmates Gordo, Kate and Ethan is celebrating with a graduation trip to Italy to experience la dolce vita - and some awesome pizza! In a whirlwind of comic events, Lizzie is mistaken for Italy's biggest pop diva, Isabella (Hilary Duff), and falls for Paolo, Isabella's handsome singing partner. Transformed from awkward teen to international pop star, Lizzie now has the choice of a lifetime. Will becoming Italy's next singing sensation also mean leaving her family and close friends behind?

I think this movie is a real girlie movie, I loved it. I really enjoyed the movie, the ending is an amazing finale and finishes off the movie very well i recommend it to anyone a very very enjoyable movie.

It's A Boy/Girl Thing

(12)

They've turned into the things they hated most... each other.

It's A Boy Girl Thing is a brilliantly funny romantic comedy about next-door neighbours who live worlds apart. Woody Deane (Zegers) and Nell Bedworth (Armstrong) are life long sworn enemies who wake up one day to find themselves in a very strange place: each others bodies. In their switched identities, each sets out to destroy the other's high school reputation. When they start to succeed they get more that they bargained for. Sometimes falling in love can be an out of body experience.

This movie really surprised me, I was expecting a rubbish teen movie specially coz I hadn't heard any reviews but it was actually very funny. Slightly predictable and it lost it a bit in the middle but definitely above average, lots of laughs and the actors are great. well worth a watch.

Picture This!

(12)

A nobody is about to become a somebody... and impress everybody.

Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) is picture-perfect and downright delightful in this hilarious comedy that gives "cell phone" a whole new meaning.

Mandy has just been invited to the biggest party of the year by the most popular boy in school, but there's one problem - she's grounded! When her father agrees to let her go study with friends, he insists on checking in every half hour via video cell phone. Trapped by technology, Mandy and her "cell" mates need a little ingenuity - and a lot of imagination - to make it to the party with exposing the plan to Dad's prying eyes!

This is about a girl called Mandy who isn't the most popular girl in school and she is crushing on Drew, the hottest guy in school. She tries to follow her dream, a few problems stand in her way but she gets past those and get her all time time dream. Worth watching. Recommend for teenagers.
