In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, during the Great Depression, the Walton family (Jon Walmsley, Mary Beth McDonough, Eric Scott, Judy Norton-Taylor, David W. Harper, Kami Cotler, Ralph Waite, Michael Learned, Will Geer, Ellen Corby, Richard Thomas, Ronnie Claire Edwards, Leslie Winston) makes its small income from its saw mill on Walton's Mountain. The story is told through the eyes of John Boy, who wants to be a novelist, goes to college, and eventually fulfills his dream. The saga follows the family through depression and war, and through growing up, school, courtship, marriage, employment, birth, aging, illness and death.

Another favourite from my childhood, I still watch the reruns when on TV. Much better than so much television for children produced these days. Good traditional family and neighbourhood values of caring for each other through thick and thin. Strong characters, someone for everyone to identify with. An excellent TV series!!!
