Sam Dawson (Sean Penn) has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old and is obsessed with the Beatles. When the mother of his daughter abandons them he names his daughter Lucy Diamond (after the Beatles song), and raises her. But as she reaches age 7 herself, Sam's limitations start to become a problem at school when Lucy (Dakota Fanning) intentionally holds back to avoid looking smarter than her father.
The authorities take her away, and in protest Sam shames high-priced lawyer Rita Harrison (Michelle Pfeiffer) into taking his case pro bono. In the process, he teaches her a great deal about love, and whether it's really all you need...

Really love this movie, it is one of my favourites. Sam who is mental capacity of a 7-year-old tries to bring up his daughter, but the state interferes and tries to take Lucy of him... You will have to watch the movie, it is really touching and sad in some parts, but well worth the watch!!!
