Family Ties

(PG)

Family Ties was a hugely successful American family sitcom which ran from 1982 to 1989. The series starred Michael J. Fox, Meredith Baxter-Birney and Michael Grossas.

Loving parents Steven (Michael Gross) and Elyse Keaton (Meredith Baxter Birney) raise their children with open hearts and open minds. Growing up in the 1960s, Mum and Dad share a liberal point of view, and guide their family with the ideals and convictions of flower power! Their offspring, however, have different ideas. Eldest son Alex P. Keaton (Micheal J. Fox) is an over-achieving, hard-core Republican, and clashes with his parents at every turn. Mallory (Justine Bateman) is a fashion-loving, boy crazy teen struggling through high school, while little sister Jennifer (Tina Yothers) is the precocious tomboy who always speaks her mind. Together, they share the moments that make them laugh, make them cry... and make them family.

The main reason for watching this is Micheal Fox. Why do otherwise reasonable programmes spend so much air time on the supposedly original or cute things that kids say? Well, because they're designed for kids really.
