Sommersby

(12)

People remember Jack Sommersby. They know him as a bitter, loutish man. But when Jack returns home after the Civil War, he's tender, caring and resourceful. Has the war changed him? Or is the man calling himself Jack Sommersby an imposter?

Richard Gere and two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster are a match for the ages in this period romance rich in mystery, detail and splendid performances. They portray Jack and Laurel Sommersby, whose love grows as suspicion about Jack mounts. If he isn't the man she married, Laurel knows he is the man she always wanted. But an ultimate test of their love and Jack's identity awaits for Jack must stand trail for his life and the outcome makes one thing sure: you'll remember Sommersby. A remake of the French film, 'The Return of Martin Guerre'.

Set during the Civil war, this tells the story of a man who returns from the war a completely different man-literally. It tells of how he falls in love with his 'wife' again-the only one who knows the truth about who he really is. The love story sweeps you away and then reduces you to tears with it's tragic ending. Fantastic for all you romantics out there-but a bit far fetched!
