(PG)
David Lean directed this stylish film presentation of Charles Dickens' heart warming story of a young man befriending an escaped convict who becomes his unknown benefactor, and of the consequences for the young man as he establishes himself in the world. (John Mills) (Martita Hunt)(Valerie Hobson)
Out of all the movie adaptations of 'Great Expectations', this is by far the best. It captures the warm humour of each character, brilliantly and because the movie is quite old, the Victorian England set would more or less exactly how it should be, as parts of London in 1946 would still be like that.
