Doghouse

(18)

A group of men head to a remote village to help one of their friends get over his divorce; when they get there, though, they discover that all the women have been infected with a virus that makes them man-hating cannibals.

Danny Dyer, Stephen Graham, Noel Clarke, Terry Stone, Christina Cole, Lee Ingleby, Keith-Lee Castle, Emil Marwa, Neil Maskell, Adele Silva, Toby Richards.

Very entertaining and very hilarious movie. Not just a lads movie and more than comedy than horror. Definitely a must see!!!

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving

In cold, snowy 19th century, post-war New Hampshire, the Bassett family is struggling to keep their heads above water. Living on a tenant farm - with the rent several months past due - recently widowed Mary Bassett (Helene Joy) must put on a brave face with Thanksgiving approaching in two weeks. With the larder empty, and no money to purchase food, let alone a fancy feast to celebrate the holiday, Mary can only smile and suggest they sew a quilt with leftover scraps of clothes to commemorate what's truly important about Thanksgiving: love and family. Dependable middle daughter Prudence (Vivien Endicott Douglas) takes this news stoically, while youngest Solomon (Gage Munroe) still believes that somehow, they'll have a Thanksgiving complete with turkey and pies. Headstrong eldest daughter Mathilda (Tatiana Maslany), however, refuses to fall back on her siblings' wishful thinking and resignation.

Jacqueline Bisset, Kristopher Turner, Michael Barbuto, Catherine Fitch.

Really thought this was a good movie, if you like period dramas you'll love this. A really good storyline!

Halloween

(18)

The Night He Came Home

Perhaps the most influential and successful independent film ever made, Halloween is the movie that put director John Carpenter on the map as a viable filmmaker. An exercise in simple, pure horror, Halloween takes us into the world of a mad killer, Michael Myers (Tony Moran), who at a very young age stabbed his older sister to death. Locked away for many years in a mental hospital Michael escapes one night and returns to his home to continue his killing spree. Jamie Lee Curtis, in her first role, plays the resourceful babysitter who is chased by the killer on Halloween night. Produced for very little money and a tight shooting schedule, Halloween was a stunning success when it was released. Written by John Carpenter and his longtime producer Debra Hill, the film set both their careers on fire, with both of them working together many times over the next 25 years. The film also made a star out of Jamie Lee Curtis and turned the slasher movie into a viable, successful genre.

Halloween has been copied, parodied and even turned into a franchise of its own, but the original is still considered the best of the bunch. Halloween was John Carpenter's first foray into horror, and remains the standard to which all other modern horror films are measured.

Donald Pleasence, Nancy Kyes, P.J. Soles, Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards, Brian Andrews, John Michael Graham, Nancy Stephens, Arthur Malet.

This is a really good movie for its time and is definitely a must see for anyone who loves horror movies! I thought it was great movie that keeps you at the edge of your seat. A really good watch !
