The Jonah by James Herbert

The shadow of his past was always with him, but he never knew what it was or when it would strike next. Sent to a small coastal town to investigate drug smuggling, Kelso soon found his life - and his sanity - in great danger.

Being a big James Herbert fan, I would recommend you waste your time reading this book, as you'll be very disappointed. As I was!!!

The Rats by James Herbert

For millions of years man and rats had been natural enemies. But now for the first time-- suddenly, shockingly, horribly-- the balance of power had shifted and the rats began to prey on the human population.

Even though this book is 30 years old, it is still the most disturbing and frightening book I have ever read, an absolute must read classic, go on scare yourself. It will keep your hooked from start to finish.

Haunted by James Herbert

Three nights of terror at the house called Edbrook - three nights in which David Ash, there to investigate a haunting, will be victim of horrifying and maleficent games. These are the three nights in which he will face the blood-chilling enigma of his own past - the three nights before Edbrook's dreadful secret will be revealed...And the true nightmare will begin! Remember with fear. "Disturbing atmosphere and constant unpleasant shocks." - "Daily Mail".

I remember reading this book a few years ago, it was just fantastic, this is one of my favourite James Herbert books. This was made into a movie but this is well better. I would recommend this book if you like ghostly books!!!

Lighting by Dean Koontz

This is a fantastic new package for this chilling tale by the international bestseller. Who is more foolish - the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light? Baba Lavelle is a stranger in New York. A stranger with a mission to break the Mafia stranglehold on the city's drug traffic, and take it over himself. He has no guns, no army of hoods, no friends in high places. But he has the Power - magical, ancient, and terrifyingly brutal. The power that thrives in darkness!

This book is just excellent! This book is full of really scary moments and suspense by chase. If you ever wondered what went bump in the night this book is for you.

This book is just FANTASTIC!!!

Intensity by Dean Koontz

Edgler Vess is a sociopath intent on murder. He lives for one purpose only: to satisfy all appetites as they arise, seeking ever more outrageous experience. To live with intensity. When he attacks her friend, Laura, Chyna Shepherd's instincts protect her. Not knowing Laura is already dead, Chyna follows, hoping to save her friend, when Vess carries her body to his motor home -- a dungeon and morgue on wheels. The killer, unaware of her presence, drives away. Her sole aim is to get out alive, until she learns the identity of the killer's next intended victim, and knows she must act to save that precious life.

This book was really a excellent read. It was thrilling, disturbing, exciting and well written. I have read many of Dean Koontz's books and this one is up there with his top books, there is not much difference in story lines between his books but still a good read, but this one really stood out and was incredible! A must read!

Night Chills by Dean Koontz

This is a fantastic new package for this chilling tale by the international bestseller. Glenn drove the Land Rover into a stone wall at just over 100mph. Alice stuck a meat fork through her hand and pinned it to the chopping board. Brenda took off all her clothes. She did whatever she was told. They were compelled by a fear too great to be remembered, enslaved by a power no man should ever wield.

An excellent book by Dean Koontz I would recommend this book to everyone. I want to say so much about this story but don't want to give away the story, you must read this one. All in all this is one of this best books ever!!!

Hideaway by Dean Koontz

Although accident victim Hatch Harrison dies en route to the hospital, a brilliant physician miraculously resuscitates him. Given this second chance, Hatch and his wife Lindsey approach each day with a new appreciation of the beauty of life -- until a series of mysterious and frightening events brings them face to face with the unknown. Although Hatch was given no glimpse of an After-Life during the period when his heart had stopped, he has reason to fear that he has brought a terrible Presence back with him! from the land of the dead. When people who have wronged the Harrisons begin to die violently, Hatch comes to doubt his own innocence -- and must confront the possibility that this life is just a prelude to another, darker place.

For quite a few years now I've been a fan of Dean Koontz and this book isn't as good as some of this other book, but still a good read. A good storyline, and well written.

My Sweet Audrina

A stand-alone mystery thriller from the bestselling author of Flowers in the Attic. MY SWEET AUDRINA The house in the wood was picturesque and charming. The family who lived there were happy and affluent. So what was the secret of the room -- empty of everything but the rocking chair? Audrina wanted to be as good as her sister. Audrina knew her parents could not love her as they loved her sister. Her sister was perfect, much loved -- and dead. But how did she die? Who was Audrina and who did she have to become? What was the secret that everyone knew? Everyone except sweet Audrina! The haunting story of love and deceit, innocence and betrayal, and terrible family secrets.

The text is very descriptive so the characters live and breath on the page, whilst the various twists and turns come together perfectly to reach a chilling conclusion. Just excellent!!!

I have been a big fan of the Virginia Andrews.
I read this book a couple of years ago it was just brilliant. I just could not put in down.
I hope that Midnight flight is as good.

Hidden Leaves

After the tragic death of her adoptive father, Willow De Beers receives an unexpected gift: a family diary that unlocks all the secrets of her world - and shatters the life she's known in glitzy Palm Beach, Florida. At last, Willow learns the identity of her real father, and unearths his secret love affair with her real mother. She discovers the reasons for her adoptive mother's cruelty ...and the truth about the mysterious woman who couldn't keep her, but would love her forever. This volume also contains the original e-book prequel to the De Beers series, DARK SEED, in print here for the first time.

Absolutely brilliant book. Like all her other books I couldn't put the book down, it kept me hooked from start to finish. A must read for all Virginia Andrews fans.

I love this whole series and can't stop reading until the last page of each book is read. Excellent read!!!

Twisted Roots

From the outside, Hannah Eaton, Willow De Beers' teenage daughter, lives a charmed life in wealthy Palm Beach, Florida. But deep inside, she is miserable and lonely. Her mother and stepfather have a sickly new baby which takes up all their attention. Her father isn't so sure that she's his child. Her crazy Uncle Linden is the only relative who has time for her. And her new boyfriend, sexy guitar player Heyden Reynolds, has a troubled family of his own. Together, Heyden and Hannah decide to run away to New Orleans, where they stumble onto a rundown old farmhouse and a woman who is convinced Hannah is her long-lost daughter. At first the charade seems like a kindness, but then things spiral out of control ...

This book is centered around the life of Willow's Daughter, Hannah. It is an excellent read and I recommend to anyone who likes Virginia Andrews' books.

Wicked Forest

After discovering her true identity, Willow De Beers leaves her North Carolina town to live with her real mother and her half-brother in Palm Beach, Florida. Caught up in a world of glamour and extravagant wealth - where nosy neighbours, fuelled by gossip and greed, keep an eye on her eccentric family - Willow is determined to make a fresh start. Thatcher Eaton, the debonair lawyer, uses his intoxicating charm once again, this time convincing Willow to give him her hand in marriage. It's to be the ritziest wedding of the decade - even by Palm Beach standards. But as future plans are made, families feud and rumours fly - and Willow learns the horrifying truth: from the darkest of secrets there is no escape.

As usual an excellent read, a bit different from Virginia Andrews other books but still very good!!!

Willow

First novel in the spine-tingling De Beers series; Wealth, extravagant parties, celebrity status were things Willow De Beers could only dream of - until now. After discovering deep family secrets in her adoptive father's diary, Willow leaves her North Carolina college and sets out in search of her birth family amid the ritzy glamour of Palm Beach. Using an assumed name and pretending to conduct a study of one of the nation's wealthiest communities, Willow takes Florida's premier city by storm. But as she spirals into a passionate love affair with young lawyer Thatcher Eaton and becomes intoxicated with the lifestyles of the rich and famous, the dark truth about her birth family threatens her fabulous new life, pushing Willow to the brink of insanity.

This is another brilliant book by Virginia Andrews, I read this a few years ago, Virginia has written this so well it makes you want more, then when you have finished you want to read the next even more than you did with this one! It will make you smile, cry and scream with laughter.

This book is sad, tells the story of Angel, Heavens mother how died in child birth, giving birth to Heaven. A really sad book, but enjoyable read!!!

Gates of Paradise

The Casteel family saga continues for Heaven's daughter Annie. But on her arrival Annie quickly realizes it is a cold and dark place, still hiding many family secrets. But a terrible, tragic car accident changes all that. When her mysterious 'great-grandfather' Tony Tatterton takes her to Farthinggale Manor, he promises to look after all her needs. But Annie pines for her lost family, most especially for Luke, her half-brother, the loving confidant of her childhood. Soon she becomes lost in the despair of the decaying mansion. This book was really good had some good twist and surprises, I couldn't put the book down. I was hooked from the beginning, a great follow on.

And as Heaven reached out for love, she was caught up in a sinister web of cruel deceits and hidden passions...

I absolutely loved this book, it was well written, sad but good.

Heaven

From the bestselling author of 'Flowers in the Attic' comes the first book in the series centred around the Casteel family and its dark and mysterious past. Repackaged to attract a new generation of Andrews' fans HER NAME WAS HEAVEN, HER LIFE WAS ANYTHING BUT Heaven's mother Angel had died in childbirth, and from that moment her father turned against her. Her only allies, it seemed, were her four half-brothers and sisters. When their father, poor and desperate, sold them to strangers, Heaven was left alone and friendless. Her only hope was to reunite her family. But how? So begins the heartbreaking, magical story of the Casteel family, continued in 'Dark Angel', 'Fallen Hearts', 'Gates of Paradise' and 'Web of Dreams'.

I read this a few years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed Heaven and once I had begun reading it I could not put it down. It didn't take long for me to become totally absorbed into Heaven's unbelievable and tragic life, wondering what she would do next.
